About Us
The American Center for South Yemen Studies is a nonprofit research organization devoted to examining southern Yemen's political, security, social, and cultural aspects and their impact on US policy in Yemen and the broader Middle East.
Our mission is to cultivate a comprehensive understanding of southern Yemen by offering expert analysis, fostering thoughtful debate, and presenting well-informed policy recommendations and solutions regarding the region.
Since the onset of the Yemeni conflict in 2015, we have observed a significant lack of information and in-depth analysis concerning southern Yemen, including its historical evolution from British colonization to communism, and its present complex status within the unified Republic of Yemen.
Our objective is to shed light on the local intricacies and emphasize the significance of understanding southern Yemen's relationship with the surrounding region and the United States.
